For children

The Nest logo.png

The Nest is based in the heart of our home. This is a home ed full day drop off offering for families seeking a slower, richer and more connected way of learning. Rooted in nature and guided by curiosity The Nest provides a nurturing, small-group environment where children can explore, question, create and belong. Our days flow with the seasons-learning through woodland wanderings, creative expression, gentle invitations, practical life skills and meaningful conversation. Here, our learning is not rushed or boxed in; it is lived, experienced and gently scaffolded to honour each child’s rhythm, strengths and emerging interests.

At The Nest, we weave together our collective experiences of therapeutic practice and wellbeing, the expressive arts, and nature-based education to support the whole child-emotionally, socially, spiritually and intellectually. Children are supported as they evolve in confidence, strengthen their relationship to the natural world, cultivate resilience and a strong sense of self through hands-on projects, collaborative learning and time outdoors in all weathers. The Nest is a place of warmth and wonder-where relationships matter, where learning feels alive, and children are supported to grow not only in knowledge, but in courage, creativity and connection.

At the heart of this offer is simplicity and community inspired by the Danish way-a philosophy that places wellbeing, trust and connection at the heart of childhood. We prioritise unhurried play, outdoor immersions and deep respect for each child’s unique and natural rhythm. We value togetherness over competition, curiosity over pressure, and belonging over performance. Here, childhood is not rushed-it is honoured.

Our early years provision is rooted in the Early Years Foundation Stage statutory framework, offering children a rich, nurturing environment where learning unfolds naturally through play, adventure, exploration and connection. We are an outdoor, nature-based setting, deeply informed by the rhythm of the seasons — from seed sowing and puddle jumping to autumn foraging and winter fireside stories. Each day invites children to experience the world with all their senses, building resilience, curiosity and confidence in a way that feels joyful and unhurried.

Early Years

Inspired by the Danish way of early childhood, with its emphasis on wellbeing, outdoor living, hygge and togetherness. Our approach is calm, child-led and relational. We create a true home-from-home atmosphere where children feel safe, seen and valued. Warm drinks on cold mornings, cosy blankets in the reading nook, woodland adventures, shared meals and meaningful conversations are woven into our days.

Here, childhood is honoured as a time to wonder, to roam, to create and to simply be.
